People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response: One time I needed distance was when I felt very overwhelmed with school. I had many assignments and responsibilities, and it started to stress me out. Being around school all the time made it hard for me to think clearly. I decided to take some time for myself and went for a walk to clear my mind. Being alone helped me calm down and think about everything more clearly. I realized that I was putting too much pressure on myself. This experience taught me that it’s okay to take a break and give myself space when things feel stressful. Summary: Today in class we read chapter 1 from the book. Reflection: I learn about  the story more.

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response: We did not get to read Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, but we looked at the cover and talked about what people need for a thru-hike. My first impression of Christopher McCandless is that he was brave, but not fully prepared. We learned that hikers need important things like enough food, warm clothes, and the right gear. Going alone into the Alaskan wilderness is very risky. It is cold, isolated, and dangerous. I don’t think he fully understood how serious those risks were. He may have believed in himself, but belief is not the same as being ready. Summary: Today in class we go over the cover page and some information related to the book. Reflection: I learn more about hiking and essential stuff needed for it.

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response: Today I worked on my Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express, and it helped me understand the words better. The easiest word for me was indolent because it just means lazy, and that was simple to relate to. The hardest word was recrimination because it was confusing at first. When I wrote my own sentence about two friends blaming each other, it started to make sense. Choosing pictures also helped because the images made the meanings clearer and easier to remember. Summary: Today in class we worked on Vocabulary Lesson 9. Reflection: I learned about  some new vocabulary.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poste

Prompt Response: After I looked at my classmates’ posters and read their comments on mine, I started to see my work in a new way. Some of them noticed things I did not even think about. That made me realize that small details really matter. Their feedback helped me think about why I picked certain colors, pictures, and words. I also got new ideas from their posters that I can use next time. It showed me that being creative is not just about making something, but also about fixing it and making it better. I learned that listening to others can help me grow and improve my work. Summary: Today in class I commented on my classmate's poster. Reflection: I learn more about my  classmates and their creativity.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response: The topic that was hardest for me was self doubt. It was hard because it is just a feeling, and you cannot see it. I did not know how to explain that feeling in a clear way. It feels small but also heavy at the same time, which makes it confusing to write about. I had to think about real times when I felt unsure of myself and how it felt inside. Next time, I will try not to overthink and just write what feels true first. Summary: Today in class I started working on a project. Reflection: I learn more  about myself with the project.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: When I was writing my similes and metaphors, it felt more personal than I expected. At first, I was just trying to do the assignment. But when I started thinking about my struggles, I realized how much I have grown. I saw that even when things are hard, I keep going. Using simple images helped me understand my feelings better. It made me see that I am stronger than I thought. This activity helped me feel proud of how far I have come. Summary: Today in class we started work on a new assignment. Reflection: I learned more about the poem ''Still I Rise'' by Maya Angelou.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response: During my break, I spent most of my time resting and being with my family. I also started fasting because it is Ramadan, which is very special to me. Waking up early for sahoor and breaking my fast at iftar helped me feel more connected to my faith. I went Eid shopping with my family, which was really fun, and we also attended a sahoor fest where we enjoyed food and time together. Along with that, I caught up on sleep and relaxed without worrying about school. The break helped me reset and feel more focused and grateful when I returned to school. Summary: Today in class we work on a poem. Reflection: I learned about a new poem called ''Still I Rise'' by Maya Angelou.
